TSTT EVDO Bandwidth Limitations
TSTT EVDO Bandwidth Limitations

TSTT has limited the 3G wireless EVDO bandwidth which was once unlimited to 2 gigabytes per month. This is utterly ridiculous! That means, if I surf a video site that streams video, I might go over the quota... someone up in TSTT not thinking straight but since they are a monopoly, they get away with all manners of evil apparently.
For those of you who are not aware, TSTT came out with an EVDO (pronounced eee vee dee oh or EV-DOH) which is based on 3G technology. This allowed companies to give out wireless internet connections to field workers using a special USB modem which connects to the network.
The speeds I got were at a maximum of 60 Kilobytes per second which is 480 Kbits per second (1 byte is 8 bits). This was not constant and usual dropped to 10KBytes per second on a congested day which was basically everyday.
What amazes me the most is a 2 gigabyte quota. If you download updates for Windows alone, you might go over your quota. But of course, it seems that TSTT technicians or engineers and decision makers skipped that point. Not only that but they have decided to add an overcharge fee of $25 dollars per 100MBs that you go over - like we going back to dial up days - another regression by placing limits.
Imagine if you have problems with this connection, you would have to use their ever becoming worse phone support with people who have probably never seen the device.
