Basically, the machine would freeze up after 5-10 minutes of internet usage and the monitor would show a blurry "gibberish" of rectangular looking objects. My first guess what that some hardware was either defective like the old PCI card we put back into the machine so I took that out... this didn't help. I even began to think it was the modem since the modem would take forever to disconnect from the internet and during which, the same "freeze" would occur. This had me totally frustrated and I even took out the modem and it STILL would freeze (just less often / less frequently). I tried another modem, that didn't help either. So I thought it was Vista or some application/virus that could have been causing it, and guess what... NO..
Whats the problem with IT jobs in Trinidad and TobagoWritten by Risharde Ramnath exclusively for TriniNation.comGood day to all my readers and especially the few fans I have lol Today, I would like to briefly share my opinion with you about the problems facing IT related jobs in Trinidad and Tobago. So this will be short and sweet and of course, technology based at times. Problems facing IT employees 1. There seems to be a lack of any form of respect for IT jobs and I see this happening alot when it relates to higher management views towards IT personnel. In other words, it seems management of companies don't seem to respect IT personnel since they are generally below in the hierarchy. This is dangerous and not in the best interest of management. 2. Most Trinidadians and Tobagonians believe that they are computer literate simply because they can do basic tasks.
TSTT vs. FLOWWritten by Risharde Ramnath exclusively for TriniNation.comThis has to be one of the most exciting battles and I'll tell you why soon. Let me just start off by saying that I currently use TSTT's Blink Service but FLOW seems to have the better packages for the better prices. So you may be like me with Blink, paying a hefty amount of cash for slower speeds. Ever wondered why? Well after reading the forums, hearing friends talk about this bandwidth fight, I came to the following realizations (I think that is a word but I don't have my dictionary with me) TSTT seems to have the edge over FLOW when it comes to coverage. This is one apparent reason why TSTT is charging more for slower connections. I'm really hoping FLOW changes this eventually. TSTT's Blink service may be slow but I have to admit that I have had very little problems with the Blink service.
Firewalls - Part 1I realised I write the less read article section on the site so far lol Its kind of funny and ironic because most people hate getting viruses on their computers but thank you for taking the opportunity to read my article. This article will give you a basic understanding of firewalls. First and foremost, we have to define what a firewall is. This however, is not easy task and if you do a search in google for such a definition, you may be overwhelmed with some of the highly complicated answers. So, let me change to my Trini accent. "Lewwe talk firewalls". A firewall for all intents and purposes is an application or device which monitors and controls data coming to and from a network (this is my definition eh (c) Risharde R. lol) - that simple eh?
Computer Power SuppliesWritten by Risharde Ramnath exclusively for TriniNation.comToday, I'll be talking briefly about computer power supplies and what you need to know about them. Generally most desktop computers and tower computers have power supplies located at the back of the machine. Your power cord generally connects to the back of the computer where the power supply is located. There is generally one fan which cools the power supply. As a typical computer user,
What is a trojan virusWhat is a Trojan VirusWritten by Risharde R. exclusively for TriniNation.comMost people I've come across don't even ask the question "What will happen if someone gets into my computer?". Well I hope that this article opens your eyes to extensive possibilities of computer virus infections. So, as the title says above, "What is a trojan virus". Well a trojan virus is a little application or program that installs itself on your machine, normally found on warez / illegal sites or sent to you from someone interested in getting information from your computer. You would normally infect your self by trying to open the file which normally has a .exe file extension. This is why you should always think twice before opening .exe files that you don't know about or don't trust. A Trojan Virus works in the same way client server architecture programming works. The virus itself is a server application (which means it provides services). TSTT EVDO Bandwidth LimitationsTSTT EVDO Bandwidth LimitationsWritten by Risharde R. exclusively for TriniNation.comTSTT has limited the 3G wireless EVDO bandwidth which was once unlimited to 2 gigabytes per month. This is utterly ridiculous! That means, if I surf a video site that streams video, I might go over the quota... someone up in TSTT not thinking straight but since they are a monopoly, they get away with all manners of evil apparently. Why you need a good AntivirusWhy you need a good AntivirusWritten by Risharde R. exclusively for TriniNation.comRight so you know how the game goes, you go to one of your most favourite websites and install a plugin and BAM! Your computer begins to act all weird, your internet slows down and your computer basically farts. Or how about, this really nice looking Trini girl on MSN sends you what she claims is a photo and when you open it, nothing happens at first or you get a nasty looking Winblows error that it couldn't find some sort of DLL (Devil Library Link - I'm just joking, steups). Well maybe its time to get an antivirus... |
